Sometimes the simple things in life are the best and this is certainly shown in this new musical by The Flanagan Collective. Featuring a talented cast of 4 who invest every emotion into every song and spoken word, this musical has no set or staging to speak of and yet is utterly engaging throughout. The songs are simple but effective as is the score. Two relationships unfolding through word and song, take the audience into every nuance, look and experience of love along the way. A touching tale of love over 50 years and a tragic story of young love with everything to live for cover the common theme of loss and heartbreak. A nice touch just before the audience go in when the cast collect stories of grandparents and incorporate them into the show – makes it more personal and powerful. This is a beautiful piece of work and I look forward to seeing where it goes from here.
