Hamlet House of Horror

The Playhouse at Hawke and Hunter Green Room    13 - 29 August @ 17.30    Westminster Theatre Company

To be or Not to be… this is certainly a musical theatre ‘to be’ at! West Minster Theatre Company have brought their incredible production of ‘Hamlet House of Horror’ to the Gothic venue ‘The Playhouse at Hawke and Hunter Green Room’.

Meet Hamlet… a prince who has issues! After the death of his father he seeks answers to the life he is currently living in and that is where Director, Chris Barton, has done a wonderful job, particularly in the story telling… he has made Shakespeare’s classic tale accessible to all.

This is a production like no other with the costume and set design like something out of a Tim Burton/Gothic Horror film and a modern contemporary score that place the audience in the horror of Hamlet’s life. Barton has made his production fast paced and in your face!

Louis Lunts plays the young Hamlet with so much conviction and passion that you feel every word that he says whilst Katy Bulmer as the wonderful Corambis and Gravedigger 1 brings much needed comedy to every scene she is in – an actress to look out for in the future. She has perfect comic timing and her characterisation for both parts is spot on. George Rowell’s Claudius is frightfully sinister and has wonderful stage presence throughout. This production works because the whole ensemble are magnificent.

If there is one thing you do this Edinburgh fringe… go and see Hamlet House of Horrors… this is something unique! Don’t miss it!
