WHAT'S THE SCORE? : Conference - Friday 7th March 2008
A conference on the nurture, development and production of new Musical Theatre in Britain exploring the experiences of our US colleagues and how the UK can escalate projects.
95 delegates and speakers packed into the rehearsal rooms of the Old Vic Theatre for a full one-day Conference and we were delighted to welcome a fantastic line-up of speakers and inspirers:
Randy Adams – Junkyard Dog Productions and previously managing producer Theatreworks California
Gigi Bolt – Development Advisor to NAMT and previously head of theatre for the US government, NEA
David Finkel – writer and critic of theatre, musical theatre and cabaret for Backstage and Theatre Mania
Sue Frost – Junkyard Dog Productions, New York & prev chair NAMT
Ian Herbert – Chair of the International Association of Theatre Critics
Paul James – Commercial Director for SOLT
Ray Jones – Superbreak Holidays and an independent producer
Sam Levy – Administrator of NY Summer Play Festival and previously NAMT Membership Director
Barbara Matthews – Head of Theatre Strategy, Arts Council England
Joe Smith – Producer for Old Vic Theatre Productions
John Sparks – New Tuners & ANMT, Chicago and Los Angeles
Emma Stenning – Head of Theatre, Arts Council London
Kris Stewart – Founding director of the New York Musicals Festival
We are grateful to the Arts Council of England, London for supporting this Conference, and to Nick Allott for the Mackintosh Foundation and Ray Jones for Superbreak helping with some travel and accommodation. The greatest thanks however must go to the speakers themselves who gave up their time to be with us. Thank you.
